The fierce protector Palden Lhamo, one of the principal female dharmapālas in Tibetan Buddhism, is depicted in her wrathful form, radiating a powerful presence as she rides across the burning terrain on a fearless steed. Her mount—a mule or horse—symbolizes unstoppable momentum and her vow to destroy inner and outer obstacles to enlightenment. Beneath her, two fearsome, animal-headed female attendants—Makarakurti and Simhavaktra—stand as guardians, reinforcing her dominion over demonic forces and her unwavering role as a protector of the Dharma. In her raised right hand, Palden Lhamo brandishes a sandalwood club topped with a vajra, a sacred weapon signifying indestructible truth and the enforcement of spiritual vows.
