The Statue of Yamantaka captures the fierce spirit of Buddhist wisdom, or prajñā, in a form that commands attention. With nine heads—centered by a buffalo’s bold face and sweeping horns—this deity exudes a formidable presence. Yamantaka’s 34 arms clutch an array of sharp tools and fearsome symbols: on the right, eight worldly gods; on the left, eight animals, each representing domination over earthly powers. Sixteen legs stamp out negativity’s remains, standing firmly on Mara, the demon of illusion, all while resting atop a serene lotus base. This mighty figure tells a story of protection, triumph over death and ignorance, and the fierce power of enlightened wrath.
