This Handcrafted Protector Deity Shakya Mahakala, also known as a revered Dharmapala or Dharma Protector, measures 15.4”/39cm in height and 12.4”/31.5cm at the base, with a weight of 4.96 kg. Made from copper, covered with a triple layer of 24K gold gilding, and carved with deeply engraved carvings that produce a magnificent 3D-like effect. In his right hand, he holds a kartikya (curved ritual knife), alongside a skull cup (kapala) filled with blood, while both hands carry a ritual staff, emphasizing his transformative and protective role. A garland of skulls hangs between his two legs, symbolizing mastery over death and impermanence. The halo surrounding him is filled with Flames. It features a majestic Garuda perched on top and a mystical dragon creature on the lower right side, adding layers of spiritual symbolism. At his base, Mahakala stands on a person or corpse, signifying the subjugation of ego, ignorance, and worldly attachments.
