Handmade Sculpture of Mahakala | Conqueror of Death
Sculpture of Mahakala measures 9.8 inches (25 cm) in height and 7.5 inches (19 cm) at the base. It weighs 2.88 kilograms and is crafted from an oxidized copper body, carved with deeply engraved details that produce a magnificent 3D-like effect. Ideal for advanced Vajrayana practice and sacred spaces devoted to transformation and protection.
Mahakala is depicted with a terrifying, angry face, bulging eyes, and a gaping mouth with fangs. This fierce demeanor is not directed at devotees but at obstacles and opposing forces that hinder spiritual progress. A crown of skulls atop the head represents the transformation of the five negative emotions (kleshas) into wisdom. He is holding ritual weapons, such as a vajra (a symbol of the thunderbolt) and a kartika, which symbolize the destruction of ignorance and the offering of wisdom. The backdrop of roaring flames symbolizes purification, power, and transformation. He is with the consort and holding a bell in his left hand, his right leg is stepping on the creature.
