Description

Shakya Thubpa Shakyamuni Statue: A Beacon of Enlightenment

Measuring 19.3 inches (49 cm) in height with a 14.2-inch (36 cm) base and weighing 8.35 kg, this Shakya Thubpa Shakyamuni Statue is a substantial handcrafted sculpture created by skilled Nepali artisans. Its copper body provides a strong foundation for the carefully sculpted facial features, monastic robe, hand gestures, and elaborate pedestal. The surface is enriched with 24K gold gilding, while acrylic painting highlights the finer patterns and decorative sections. Hand-carved gemstones are incorporated into the robe and base, adding dimension to the detailed composition. With its impressive size, considerable weight, and refined craftsmanship, the statue is suitable for a Buddhist altar, meditation room, temple, or spiritual art collection.

Shakyamuni Buddha is depicted seated in a stable meditative posture upon an elaborate double-lotus pedestal. His right hand extends downward over his knee in the bhumisparsha mudra, or earth-touching gesture, while his left hand rests in his lap holding a dark-colored alms bowl. He wears a monastic robe draped over his left shoulder, leaving the right shoulder and much of the chest uncovered. The robe is richly ornamented with sculpted patterns, painted detailing, and hand-carved gemstones arranged along its borders and folds. His face carries a calm expression with gently lowered eyes, arched brows, elongated earlobes, and a small urna between the eyebrows. Blue-painted hair curls cover his head and rise into a rounded ushnisha crowned by a golden finial. Beneath him, the pedestal features two rows of broad lotus petals decorated with alternating gemstone colors, while the lower rectangular platform is bordered with turquoise and red geometric patterns.
