Description

A Shakyamuni Buddha and Disciples Sculpture for Serene Reflection

This Shakyamuni Buddha and Disciples Sculpture measures 17.13 inches (43.5 cm) in height with a 14.17-inch (36 cm) base and weighs 10.44 kg. Handcrafted by skilled Nepali artisans, the substantial composition is formed from an oxidized copper body and enhanced with silver plating and detailed acrylic painting. The darkened copper surface creates depth across the garments, facial features, and pedestal, while the silver-plated sections provide a refined contrast. Painted accents bring further definition to selected details throughout the three-figure arrangement. Its impressive weight and balanced presentation make it suitable for a temple altar, meditation room, Buddhist learning space, or significant collection of Himalayan sacred art.

Shakyamuni Buddha is seated at the center in the vajra posture, wearing traditional monastic robes. His right hand extends downward in the Bhumisparsha Mudra, recalling the moment he called the earth to witness his enlightenment, while his left hand rests in meditative equipoise and traditionally holds an alms bowl. Standing beside him are his two foremost disciples, Shariputra and Maudgalyayana, presented in respectful attendance and dressed in monastic garments. Shariputra is revered for his exceptional wisdom, while Maudgalyayana is remembered for his extraordinary spiritual abilities. Together, the three figures represent the enlightened teacher, the preservation of his teachings, and their transmission through the community of disciples.
