Shakyamuni Buddha Copper Sculpture of Enlightenment | Made in Nepal

Handcrafted in Nepal, this Shakyamuni Buddha Copper Sculpture reflects the refined artistry and traditional craftsmanship of Himalayan Buddhist sculpture. Measuring 45 cm (17.7 inches) in height with a 32.5 cm (12.8 inches) base and weighing 7.6 kg, it features a copper body enhanced with 24K gold gilding and detailed acrylic painting. The radiant gold surface highlights the serene expression, finely modeled contours, flowing robes, and ornamental details, while the acrylic painting adds definition and depth to selected features. The combination of precise copper sculpting, gilding, and painting demonstrates the patience, skill, and dedication of skilled Nepalese artisans in preserving the traditional techniques of Buddhist sculpture.

Shakyamuni Buddha, the historical Buddha and awakened teacher, embodies the qualities of wisdom, compassion, inner peace, and liberation from suffering. He is traditionally depicted seated in the vajra posture, symbolizing unwavering stability, deep meditation, and the realization of enlightenment. His right hand forms the Bhumisparsha Mudra, the “earth-touching” gesture that recalls the moment beneath the Bodhi tree when he called the Earth to witness his awakening and victory over ignorance and delusion. His left hand rests peacefully in his lap, often holding an alms bowl, representing renunciation, simplicity, and disciplined spiritual practice. His serene expression, monastic robes, and traditional marks of Buddhahood reflect profound realization and awakened awareness. This sacred representation serves as a reminder of the path toward mindfulness, wisdom, compassion, and complete liberation.

Shakyamuni Buddha, born Siddhartha Gautama, was the historical Buddha who lived in ancient India between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE. After years of spiritual seeking and meditation, he attained complete enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree at Bodh Gaya, realizing the path to liberation from suffering. He then dedicated his life to teaching the Dharma, establishing the foundations of Buddhism through teachings that emphasize compassion, wisdom, mindfulness, and the cultivation of inner peace.
