Shakyamuni Buddha Statue | An Embodiment of Profound Enlightenment
This Shakyamuni Buddha Statue measures 9.45”/24cm in height with a 6.89”/17.5cm base and weighs 2.03 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from an oxidized copper body, the sculpture features a naturally darkened finish that brings out the contours and finely worked details while giving the surface a rich, traditional character. The controlled oxidation and precise metal craftsmanship reflect the skill of Nepalese artisans and the enduring traditions of Himalayan Buddhist sculpture. Spiritually, the figure represents the historical Buddha and the path of awakening through meditation, wisdom, ethical discipline, and liberation from suffering.
This Shakyamuni Buddha is depicted seated in the full vajra posture upon a lotus base, with both legs crossed and the soles of the feet facing upward. His right hand extends downward in bhumisparsha mudra, with the fingertips touching the ground to symbolize the moment of enlightenment, while his left hand rests in dhyana mudra in his lap, holding an alms bowl. His serene expression, gently lowered eyes, elongated earlobes, tightly curled hair, and prominent ushnisha reflect the traditional features of an enlightened Buddha. The simple monastic robes emphasize his peaceful and contemplative nature, while the lotus base symbolizes purity and spiritual awakening. The balanced posture, clearly defined mudras, alms bowl, facial features, and robe details complete the traditional iconography of Shakyamuni Buddha.

Shakyamuni Buddha originated in the ancient Shakya region of the Himalayan foothills and is traditionally understood to have been born as Siddhartha Gautama in Lumbini, present-day Nepal, around the 5th century BCE. After renouncing princely life in search of freedom from suffering, he attained enlightenment at Bodh Gaya in present-day India and later taught throughout northern India. His teachings became the foundation of Buddhism, emphasizing the Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, meditation, ethical conduct, and wisdom. He is revered as the historical Buddha of the present age and as the teacher whose path guides practitioners toward awakening and liberation.
