Handmade Shakyamuni Buddha Statue | Awakened One of Boundless Wisdom
This Handmade Shakyamuni Buddha Statue measures 9.06”/23cm in height with a 6.5”/16.5cm base and weighs 1.75 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from an oxidized copper body, the sculpture combines a deep, naturally darkened finish with 24K gold gilding and detailed acrylic painting, creating a refined contrast between the warm gilded areas and the darker metal surface. The careful metalwork, controlled oxidation, and hand-applied finishing reflect the precision of skilled Nepalese artisans and the enduring traditions of Himalayan Buddhist craftsmanship. Spiritually, the figure represents the historical Buddha and the path of awakening through meditation, wisdom, ethical discipline, and liberation from suffering.
This Shakyamuni Buddha is depicted seated in the full vajra posture upon a lotus throne, with one hand lowered in bhumisparsha mudra, the earth-touching gesture symbolizing the moment of his enlightenment when the earth bore witness to his awakening. His other hand rests in dhyana mudra in his lap, holding an alms bowl that represents meditation, renunciation, and the purity of the monastic path. His serene expression, gently lowered eyes, elongated earlobes, tightly curled dark hair, and prominent ushnisha are traditional marks of an enlightened Buddha. He wears simple monastic robes that drape naturally around his body, emphasizing spiritual discipline and renunciation, while the lotus throne symbolizes purity, liberation, and the unfolding of awakened wisdom.

Shakyamuni Buddha, born as Siddhartha Gautama, is the historical founder of Buddhism and is traditionally believed to have been born in Lumbini, present-day Nepal, around the 5th century BCE. Born into the Shakya clan, he later renounced princely life in search of freedom from suffering and attained enlightenment at Bodh Gaya in present-day India. He then spent many years teaching across northern India, sharing the Dharma and establishing the principles that became the foundation of Buddhism. His teachings on the Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, meditation, ethical conduct, and wisdom continue to guide practitioners toward awakening and liberation.
