Description

Shakyamuni Buddha Peaceful Dharma Teacher Statue: An Emblem of Enlightened Serenity

This Shakyamuni Buddha Peaceful Dharma Teacher Statue measures 13.4”/34cm in height with a 9.4”/24cm base and weighs 3.35 kg. Crafted by skilled Nepali artisans, this sculpture features an oxidized copper body that enhances the depth and texture of the traditional metalwork. The darkened copper surface highlights the finely carved details across the Buddha’s robes, facial features, lotus pedestal, and decorative elements, creating an elegant antique appearance. The carefully refined craftsmanship and balanced composition make this statue suitable for Buddhist altars, meditation spaces, Dharma centers, monasteries, or spiritual collections.

The sculpture depicts Shakyamuni Buddha seated peacefully upon an intricately carved lotus pedestal in a teaching posture. His right hand is raised in Vitarka Mudra, the gesture of teaching and sharing the Dharma, while his left hand rests in his lap holding an alms bowl. He has a calm facial expression, half-closed eyes, elongated earlobes, tightly curled hair, and a rounded ushnisha. His simple monastic robe falls naturally around his body with carefully carved folds, while the detailed lotus throne and serene posture create a traditional representation of the historical Buddha as a Dharma teacher.

Shakyamuni Buddha, born Siddhartha Gautama, is the historical founder of Buddhism. He lived in ancient India (present-day Nepal) around the 6th to 4th centuries BCE. Through intense meditation and self-discovery, he achieved complete enlightenment and spent the remainder of his life teaching the Dharma, the path to liberation from suffering. His teachings emphasize compassion, wisdom, and the practice of the Middle Way.
