Shakyamuni Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama, was a spiritual teacher and the founder of Buddhism who lived in the 5th to 6th century BCE. Born a prince in Lumbini, he renounced his royal life in search of the truth behind suffering and the path to liberation. After years of meditation and ascetic practice, he attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya. From then on, he became known as Shakyamuni, meaning “Sage of the Shakya Clan.” He taught the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path as the way to overcome suffering and achieve nirvana. His teachings form the foundation of Buddhism and continue to guide millions on their spiritual journey.
