Shakyamuni Buddha Sacred Statue | A Timeless Symbol of Wisdom and Inner Peace
This Shakyamuni Buddha Sacred Statue measures 8.66”/22cm in height with a 6.3”/16cm base and weighs 1.27 kg. Handcrafted in Nepal from an oxidized copper body, the sculpture features a naturally darkened finish that brings out the contours and finely worked surface while giving the piece a rich, traditional character. The controlled oxidation and precise metal craftsmanship reflect the skill of Nepalese artisans and the enduring traditions of Himalayan Buddhist sculpture. Spiritually, the figure represents the historical Buddha and the path of awakening through wisdom, meditation, ethical discipline, and liberation from suffering.
This Shakyamuni Buddha is depicted seated in the full vajra posture upon a lotus base, with both legs crossed and the soles of the feet facing upward in a stable meditative position. His right hand extends downward in bhumisparsha mudra, with the fingertips touching the ground, representing the moment of enlightenment when the earth was called to witness his awakening. His left hand rests in dhyana mudra in his lap while holding an alms bowl, symbolizing meditation, inner concentration, and the simple monastic life. The lotus base serves as a sacred foundation, with its layered petals representing purity and spiritual awakening. The balanced posture, clearly defined hand gestures, alms bowl, and lotus seat together form the traditional iconography of Shakyamuni Buddha.

Shakyamuni Buddha originated in the ancient Shakya region of the Himalayan foothills, with Siddhartha Gautama traditionally understood to have been born in Lumbini, in present-day Nepal, around the 5th century BCE. Born into the Shakya clan, he later renounced princely life in search of freedom from suffering and attained enlightenment at Bodh Gaya in present-day India. He then spent decades teaching across northern India, sharing the principles that became the foundation of Buddhism. He is revered as the historical Buddha of our age, and his teachings on the Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, meditation, ethical conduct, and wisdom continue to guide practitioners toward awakening and liberation.
