The Standing Lokeshwor, a form of Avalokiteshvara, represents the Bodhisattva of Compassion in an elegant upright posture that symbolizes his active presence in the world to aid all beings. In this iconography, his right hand is raised in the Abhaya Mudra, the gesture of protection and fearlessness, while the left hand is lowered in the Varada Mudra, signifying generosity and the granting of blessings, and it holds a lotus flower (Padma) representing purity and spiritual awakening. The deity stands gracefully upon a lotus pedestal, symbolizing spiritual purity and transcendence above worldly suffering, and is richly adorned with ornamental jewelry, a crown, and flowing garments, reflecting the regal appearance of a bodhisattva. Behind him rises an elaborate aureole or backplate decorated with floral and mythical motifs, emphasizing his divine radiance and sacred presence, while the serene facial expression conveys compassion, calmness, and enlightened awareness.
