Himalayan Statue of Vairocana: The Cosmic Buddha

This beautiful statue of Vairocana, also known as the Cosmic Buddha, reaches 12.6 inches (32 cm) tall and has an 8.5-inch (21.5 cm) base. Crafted by expert artisans, it has a copper, covered with a triple layer of 24K gold gilding, and carved with deeply engraved carvings that produce a magnificent 3D-like effect. This sculpture, adorned with gemstones, handcrafted by expert Nepalese artisans, elegantly symbolizes Himalayan Buddhism's sacred traditions, making it an appropriate addition to altars, meditation places, or sacred collections.

Vairocana, the Primordial Buddha, is depicted with four faces, each representing his boundless wisdom and omnipresence. He embodies purity and enlightenment in the vajra posture atop a lotus base. His hands rest in the dhyāna mudrā, symbolizing deep meditation, while holding the Dharmachakra, signifying the turning of the Wheel of Dharma and the path to liberation. An usnisa atop his head symbolizes supreme wisdom and is adorned with traditional Buddhist ornaments. Vairocana’s four faces reflect his divine and regal nature, embodying ultimate truth and cosmic wisdom, guiding beings toward spiritual awakening and liberation.

Adhi Buddha created Vairocana as one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas. Vairocana means "luminous" or "embodiment of light" in Sanskrit. Vairocana is a Primordial Buddha who sits in the heart of the temple. He's also known as the "great lighting one," "the Life force that illuminates the cosmos."

Each statue contains a sacred chamber for mantra and relic fillings to bestow spiritual empowerment. During consecration, these sacred items are placed inside and blessed through traditional rituals performed by the ordained monks. There is a fee for this service, offered as a respectful contribution to the monastery.
