Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, is believed to have miraculously appeared as an eight-year-old child from a lotus in Lake Dhanakosha, fulfilling a prophecy of Shakyamuni Buddha. Not born from a womb, his spontaneous manifestation symbolized his enlightened nature. Regarded as the Second Buddha, he introduced Vajrayana Buddhism and transformed spiritual obstacles into paths of awakening. He subdued negative forces that resisted the Dharma and established Tibet’s first monastery, Samye. By transmitting tantric teachings and guiding advanced practices of mantra and meditation, Guru Rinpoche laid the foundation for Tibetan Buddhism. His legacy endures as a beacon of spiritual transformation and wisdom.
