Amitabha is renowned for his longevity and for his accumulation of purification, embodying a deep awareness of the emptiness of all phenomena. According to legend, he was once a monarch who renounced his throne to become a Dharma-kara Bodhisattva monk. After five eons of dedicated work, he attained enlightenment and became a Buddha. Amitabha represents both compassion and wisdom in Buddhism.

Siddhartha Gautama was born as the crown prince of the powerful Shakya Kingdom, groomed to become a king in accordance with his royal father's wishes. However, at around 29, he became aware of the immense suffering people face in life. In response, he abandoned his life in the palace, renouncing his luxurious robes and gold, in search of the causes of this suffering and how to overcome it. After nearly six years of study, self-discipline, and intense meditation, he achieved his goal and attained enlightenment, becoming a Buddha. He then traveled to a deer park in Sarnath (Benares), India, on the outskirts of Varanasi, where he began teaching.

Medicine Buddha, known as Bhaishajyaguru in Sanskrit, is revered as the Buddha of Healing. His teachings focus on liberating sentient beings from sickness, pain, suffering, and unhappiness, while also emphasizing the importance of attaining prosperity and joy in this life. His healing abilities are highly regarded by meditators in the Mahayana tradition. He is often depicted with a blue (lapis lazuli) body, holding a begging bowl and medical herbs in his hands.
