Three Nyingma Protectors: Embodying Profound Lineage Protection

This Three Nyingma Protectors set measures 15.75 inches (40 cm) in height, rests upon a 14.37-inch (36.5 cm) base, and weighs 13.8 kg. Formed from a Copper Body, Gold and Acrylic Painting, the three sculptures are richly detailed with bright gold accents across their crowns, ornaments, ritual attributes, and lotus pedestals. Acrylic colors bring definition to the expressive faces, flowing garments, animal forms, and the flame-shaped aureoles that surround each protector. Arranged together, the figures create a powerful focal point for a Nyingma altar, Dharma space, or collection of Vajrayana Buddhist art.

The set represents the principal Nyingma protectors Ekajati, Rahula, and Dorje Legpa, revered as guardians of the teachings and of practitioners who uphold them. Their wrathful expressions, dynamic postures, fiery halos, and raised ritual implements do not signify ordinary anger; they express enlightened activity that confronts obstacles, harmful influences, and inner confusion. Ekajati is associated with the protection of secret mantra teachings, Rahula embodies vigilant guardian power, and Dorje Legpa is invoked as a protector of the Dharma and its practitioners. Their strong forms and elaborate surrounds convey courage, discernment, and the compassionate force that protects the path of practice.

The Three Nyingma Protectors typically refer to the powerful triad of Ekajati, Rahula, and Dorje Lekpa. These are principal dharma protectors within the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. Ekajati guards secret mantras and uncovers spiritual treasures. Rahula protects from malevolent planetary influences and hindrances. Dorje Lekpa is a wealth deity and protector of concealed teachings (termas). Together, they defend practitioners and the dharma from negativity, ensuring spiritual progress and the flourishing of the teachings.
