Embodying Incisive Wisdom: The Tikshna Manjushri Meditation Statue

This Tikshna Manjushri Meditation Statue reaches 16.5 inches (42 cm) in height, rests upon a broad 12-inch (30.5 cm) base, and weighs 7.95 kg. Meticulously handcrafted by skilled Nepali artisans, the sculpture features a copper body covered with radiant 24K gold gilding and enriched with detailed acrylic painting and gemstone embellishments. The polished golden surface highlights the deity’s youthful face, ornate crown, celestial garments, jeweled ornaments, and gracefully curving lotus stems. Colorful stones bring further definition to the crown, jewelry, attributes, and richly decorated double-lotus pedestal. Its substantial weight and carefully balanced composition make it an impressive centerpiece for a Buddhist altar, meditation room, wisdom shrine, teaching space, or collection of Himalayan sacred sculpture.

Tikshna Manjushri is depicted with one peaceful face and two hands, seated in the stable vajra posture. His hands hold the stems of utpala lotuses that blossom beside his shoulders, supporting his principal wisdom attributes: the flaming sword and the Prajnaparamita scripture. The sword represents sharp discriminating insight that cuts through ignorance, confusion, and mistaken views, while its flame suggests the illuminating power of awakened understanding. The scripture symbolizes the Perfection of Wisdom teachings and the realization of emptiness. His elaborate crown, silken garments, youthful appearance, and refined bodhisattva ornaments express wisdom in an active yet compassionate form. The layered lotus throne signifies purity arising amid the conditions of worldly existence. Revered as a distinct form of the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, Tikshna Manjushri encourages clear perception, intelligent inquiry, disciplined study, and the insight needed to progress along the path of awakening.

Manjushri is revered across Mahayana Buddhism as the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, often depicted holding a flaming sword and a volume of the Prajnaparamita Sutra. Tikshna Manjushri, specifically, represents the 'sharp' or 'incisive' aspect of this wisdom, capable of cutting through the densest obscurations and ignorance. He embodies the profound understanding and eloquence essential for grasping the ultimate nature of reality and guiding sentient beings towards enlightenment.
