Tilopa (988–1069 CE) was an Indian Tantric practitioner and Mahasiddha, renowned as one of the 84 Mahasiddhas and a central figure in the Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. He is celebrated for systematizing the Mahamudra transmission, a profound teaching on the nature of mind, which he received directly from the primordial Buddha Vajradhara and passed on to his disciple Naropa. His teachings, particularly the "Six Words of Advice," emphasize spontaneous wisdom and liberation through direct experience.
