Trisong Detsen (742–797 CE) was the 38th King of Tibet and one of the three Dharma Kings instrumental in establishing Buddhism in Tibet. He is credited with inviting renowned Indian Buddhist masters such as Shantarakshita and Padmasambhava to Tibet, sponsoring the translation of countless scriptures, and overseeing the construction of Samye Monastery, Tibet's first Buddhist monastery. His reign marked a crucial period for the transmission and flourishing of the Dharma in the Himalayan region.
