Tsongkhapa with His Two Principal Disciples represents the foundation and transmission of the Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, bringing together the great master Je Tsongkhapa with his foremost disciples, Je Gyaltsab and Je Khedrup. Together, the three figures are traditionally known as Je Yab Se Sum, “Je Tsongkhapa and his Two Spiritual Sons,” symbolizing the preservation and continuation of his teachings.
Je Tsongkhapa: Seated at the center, embodies profound wisdom, disciplined practice, and the integration of study and meditation. His hands are traditionally held near his heart in the teaching gesture, expressing the transmission of the Dharma, while his composed seated posture reflects meditative stability and spiritual realization.
Je Gyaltsab (Gyaltsab Je): One of Tsongkhapa’s closest disciples, is revered for his scholarship, realization, and role in preserving his master’s teachings.
