Vajradhara Oxidized Copper Statue | The Union of Wisdom and Compassion

Vajradhara Oxidized Copper Statue measures 9.25”/23.5cm in height with a 6.3”/16cm base and weighs 1.37 kg. Nepalese artisans have crafted the copper body with an oxidized finish, lending the metal a rich patina, while acrylic painting adds color and definition to the sculpted details. These complementary finishes emphasize the workmanship and give the piece a refined presence rooted in Himalayan Buddhist art. Revered as the primordial Buddha in Vajrayana Buddhism, this sacred figure embodies the union of wisdom and compassion and the awakened nature of mind, making it a meaningful focus for devotion and contemplation within a Buddhist altar or meditation space.

Vajradhara is depicted seated in the traditional vajra posture on an intricately carved lotus pedestal, with both arms crossed over the chest in the vajrahumkara gesture. His hands hold the vajra and bell close to the heart, symbolizing the inseparable union of method and wisdom. The serene face features two gently focused eyes, a small urna, elongated earlobes, and a high jeweled crown topped with a small vajra finial. He is richly adorned with large earrings, layered necklaces, armlets, bracelets, and flowing celestial scarves, while the garments feature finely engraved ornamental patterns. The crossed arms, jewelry, clothing, lotus pedestal, and surrounding decorative elements are carefully modeled, while the oxidized copper surface creates a deep, refined appearance that highlights the intricate carving throughout the sculpture.

Vajradhara is regarded as the Dharmakaya, or truth-body Buddha, representing the ultimate realization of enlightenment from which all other Buddhas emanate. In the New Translation schools of Tibetan Buddhism, he is the central figure of the lineage, the supreme teacher who revealed the Tantras. He symbolizes the totality of the universe and the realization of non-duality, serving as the ultimate source of spiritual refuge and guidance for all sentient beings.
