Vajrakilaya Copper Statue: A Powerful Embodiment of Vajrayana Practice
This Vajrakilaya Copper Statue measures 13.8 inches (35 cm) in height with a 10.8-inch (27.5 cm) base and weighs 5.22 kg. Handcrafted by skilled Nepali artisans, the sculpture is formed from a substantial copper body and enhanced with carefully applied gold and acrylic painting. Silver dust adds a subtle contrasting sheen to selected details, bringing greater definition to the deity’s fierce features, sacred implements, ornaments, and sculpted base. Its powerful composition and substantial weight make it suitable for a Vajrayana altar, meditation space, protector shrine, or collection of Himalayan sacred art.
Vajrakilaya is portrayed in his wrathful form with three faces, six arms, four legs, and a pair of wings extending behind him. His central hands hold the three-sided ritual dagger, or phurba, at the level of his heart. The remaining right hands hold vajras, while the left hands carry a trident and a mass of flame. His three faces display bulging eyes and bared fangs, with hair rising upward in a fiery arrangement. Surrounded by a flame-shaped aureole and standing in a dynamic posture, Vajrakilaya embodies fierce enlightened activity directed toward subduing obstacles and transforming negative forces on the Vajrayana path.

Vajrakilaya, or Dorje Phurba in Tibetan, is a wrathful manifestation of Vajrasattva, embodying the enlightened activity of all Buddhas. He is particularly revered in the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism as a meditational deity (yidam) whose practice is central to purifying spiritual pollution and destroying all obstacles to enlightenment. His primary attribute is the kīla or phurba, a three-sided ritual dagger used to peg down negative energies and transform them into wisdom, thus protecting practitioners from harm and spiritual hindrances.
