This Vajrapani 24K Gold Gilded Sculpture measures 10”/25.5cm in height and 7.2”/18.5cm at the base, weighing 2.12 kg. Handcrafted from a copper body, this finely detailed Himalayan Buddhist sculpture is richly finished with 24K gold gilding, acrylic painting, and carefully placed gemstones. Vajrapani is portrayed in a dynamic wrathful posture, standing upon an intricately carved lotus pedestal and surrounded by an elaborate flaming aureole. His fierce expression, wide eyes, pronounced brows, bared fangs, and third eye convey the powerful energy of enlightened activity. He wears an elaborate jeweled crown, large earrings, layered necklaces, bracelets, armlets, and flowing celestial garments, all rendered with detailed carving. His raised right hand holds the vajra, while his other hand carries the lasso, his principal attributes. The radiant 24K gold gilding highlights the sculptural details across his face, ornaments, garments, sacred implements, flames, and lotus pedestal, while colorful acrylic painting and gemstone accents add definition to selected areas.

This sacred representation portrays Vajrapani, the Bodhisattva who embodies the power, energy, and strength of all the Buddhas. His name, “Vajrapani,” means “Holder of the Vajra,” referring to the vajra held in his raised hand. The vajra symbolizes indestructible wisdom and the powerful force of enlightened mind capable of overcoming ignorance and obstacles. His lasso represents the ability to restrain and overcome harmful forces and hindrances. His wrathful appearance is not an expression of ordinary anger but represents fierce compassionate energy directed toward protecting the Dharma and supporting spiritual practice. The third eye symbolizes heightened wisdom and awakened perception, while the crown and elaborate ornaments identify him in his Bodhisattva form. His dynamic stance expresses active enlightened power, while the surrounding flames symbolize the transformative force of wisdom that burns away negativity and obstruction. The lotus pedestal represents purity and awakened realization, together expressing Vajrapani’s role as a powerful protector and embodiment of fearless enlightened activity.

Vajrapani, whose name means "Vajra in Hand," is one of the earliest bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism. Representing the power aspect of the Buddha's mind, he is often depicted as a protector deity and a guide, embodying the spiritual strength that destroys all negativities and defilements. He is a member of the trinity of protector deities, alongside Avalokiteshvara (compassion) and Manjushri (wisdom).
