Tikshna Manjushri Copper Statue: Illuminating the Path of Insight
The Tikshna Manjushri Copper Statue measures 9.6”/24.5cm in height with a 7.5”/19cm base and weighs 2.64 kg. Expert Nepali artisans have handcrafted the statue from copper and completed it with an antique finish. The darkened patina settles into the recessed areas while the raised copper surfaces create subtle highlights, clearly defining the facial features, crown, ornaments, garments, lotus petals, and ritual attributes. This carefully applied finish gives the sculpture an aged appearance while preserving the clarity of its detailed metalwork.
Tikshna Manjushri is depicted seated in the vajra posture upon a lotus pedestal. His raised right hand holds a wisdom sword, while his left hand holds the stem of a lotus supporting the Prajnaparamita Sutra. He wears an elaborate Bodhisattva crown, earrings, necklaces, armlets, and flowing garments. The sword and scripture identify this form as Tikshna Manjushri, whose name refers to the sharpness of wisdom. His composed expression and balanced seated posture complete the traditional presentation of this wisdom Bodhisattva.
