Mandarava holds her right hand in vitarka mudra, expressing teaching and transmission, while her left hand supports a kalasha, representing longevity and blessings. Yeshe Tsogyal presents her left hand in vitarka mudra, and her right hand holds a skull cup, signifying profound wisdom and realisation. Both figures stand gracefully upon a lotus base, reflecting purity and the awakened state.

Yeshe Tsogyal and Mandarava are two of the most important female figures in Tibetan Buddhism, recognised as the principal consorts of Guru Padmasambhava. Yeshe Tsogyal is revered as the Mother of Tibetan Buddhism, a master practitioner, and a tertön (discoverer of hidden spiritual treasures). Mandarava was a princess from Zahor who achieved spiritual realization and immortality through her dedicated practice. Both dakinis embody the active, enlightened feminine principle, offering profound guidance and inspiration on the path to awakening.
