Origin of Maitreya Buddha Statues
In Buddhist traditions, Maitreya is revered as the successor to Shakyamuni Buddha, residing in the Tushita Heaven awaiting the right time to descend to Earth. Devotees invoke Maitreya to cultivate loving-kindness, patience, and compassion. Statues of Maitreya serve as devotional and meditative aids, inspiring practitioners to develop the qualities necessary to foster happiness and reduce suffering in themselves and others.
